By downloading or using Sqsh, you agree to these Terms of Use. Please read them. These terms apply alongside Apple's standard App Store EULA.

Who can use Sqsh

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By using the app you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you should have permission from a parent or guardian.

What the app does

Sqsh is a bill-splitting service. It lets you scan a receipt with AI, divide items among a group, and generate payment totals. The app produces suggested payment amounts — it does not process, hold, or move any money. All actual payments happen outside of Sqsh through Venmo, Cash App, or any method participants choose.

Data shared within a session

When you participate in a split session, your display name and the items you claim are visible to all other participants in that session in real time. If you are the host of a session, your Venmo and Cash App handles are shared with all participants so they can pay you. Do not host a session with payment handles you do not want other participants to see.

Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity that occurs under it. Provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it current. You may delete your account at any time from the Profile tab, which permanently removes your data from our systems.

Usernames and searchability

Your chosen username may be searched by other signed-in users to add you as a friend. If you want to opt out of search, set your profile to private in the Privacy settings. Usernames must not impersonate another person or contain offensive language.

Subscriptions and purchases

New users receive 3 free splits. After that, a subscription or per-session purchase is required to use AI receipt scanning.

Subscription options:

• Monthly — $2.99 per month, billed monthly
• 6 months — $12.99, billed every 6 months
• Annual — $19.99, billed yearly

Individual receipt scans are available without a subscription for $0.99 each. All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings. Prices may vary by region and are subject to change with notice. No refunds are provided for unused portions of a subscription period except where required by applicable law.

AI receipt scanning

Receipt scanning uses Google's Gemini AI. Results are best-effort — the AI may misread items, prices, or totals on some receipts. You should always review the scanned output before starting a session. Sqsh is not liable for errors in AI-generated receipt data.

User content

You retain ownership of content you submit, including session names and receipt data. By using the app you grant Sqsh a limited, non-exclusive license to store and process that content for the sole purpose of providing the service. We do not use your content to train AI models.

Prohibited conduct

You agree not to use Sqsh to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Harass, threaten, or harm other users
• Impersonate another person or create misleading usernames
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the service or other users' accounts
• Use automated tools to scrape, abuse, or overload the service
• Use the app for any fraudulent or deceptive purpose

Session data retention

Your split history is stored indefinitely so you can review past sessions. Sessions are not automatically deleted. All session history is permanently removed when you delete your account.

Account termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abusive behavior, or attempt to manipulate or exploit the service. If your account is terminated for a violation, any unused subscription value is forfeited.

Disclaimer of warranties

Sqsh is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that AI scanning will produce accurate results on all receipts.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Sqsh and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to incorrect split calculations, payment disputes between users, or service interruptions.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sqsh and its developers from any claims, losses, or damages arising from your use of the app or your violation of these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after updated terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the app shall be resolved in the applicable courts of the United States.
